About Hotels in The Grand Palace!

The Grand Palace Bangkok is an iconic landmark and a must-see when visiting Thailand. It's a sprawling complex of buildings that have been used by the Thai monarchy for centuries, dating back to 1782 when it was constructed during the reign of King Rama I.

The palace was built with a blend of traditional Thai and European architecture, making it a beautiful sight to behold. Inside the walls, visitors will find many different pavilions and courtyards with intricate designs and decorations that are characterized by the use of gold leaf, colorful murals, and glass mosaics.

The Grand Palace is home to several notable buildings, including Wat Phra Kaew – also known as 'Temple of the Emerald Buddha.' This temple holds an exquisite 15-inch emerald meditation Buddha statue that was crafted in 14th century India. Other popular buildings include Wat Pho – the world's largest collection of Buddha images – and Chakri Maha Prasat Hall where royals receive visitors.

The complex itself is surrounded by four walls that measure almost 1 kilometer in length. There are five gates within those walls: Na Phra Lan Gate, Wang Na Gate, Tha Chang Gate, Moon Muang Gate, and Chakkawat Gate. These gates are decorated with various mythical creatures such as nagas (serpents) which are meant to protect the sacred grounds from evil spirits.

When visiting The Grand Palace Bangkok there's also plenty of other things to do within its vicinity including shopping at local markets or venturing into nearby attractions like Khao San Road or Wat Saket. Given the historic significance of this place, it’s truly an awe-inspiring sight to see!
