Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan, also known as the Golden Buddha, is located in Bangkok, Thailand. It is one of Thailand's most famous and popular temples and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
The temple houses a massive 3-meter solid gold Buddha statue that weighs an impressive five and a half tons! It is believed to be over 900 years old and was discovered in 1955 when the temple underwent renovation. The Golden Buddha is a standing Sukhothai-style representation of Gautama Siddhartha, the founder of Buddhism. Its intricate details, from the gilded robe adorning its body to tiny jewels dotting its crown, indicate that it was made with great skill and care by master artisans centuries ago. Inside the temple there are many other artifacts related to Buddhism such as ancient scriptures, statues of various deities, and items used for prayer ceremonies.
